After torturing by the final exams in the end of the semester, my boyfriend and I planned to visit Taichung on January 28th. Some of you will wonder that what is the special part about this trip? Well, it’s the transportation. In general, most of the visitors would choose the train, high speed rail or bus. However, we decided to ride the motorcycle to Taichung during the winter. It sounds crazy, right? The reason why we want to ride motorcycle is that we think we can enjoy the landscape along the way and it is free to take a break when we need it that we don’t have such time pressure.

Until January 28th, we got everything prepared and started leaving for Taichung. According to the map, we would pass Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli and Changhua respectively. Along the way, we had to help each other to watch out the road condition because sometimes we would be too tired to watch. After four hours or so, we finally arrived in Taichung. Then, we start our first stop, Sapindus forest. To our surprise, the truth is that the Sapindus forest is just bundles of trees. At that time, we had already been starved for a long time. And we decided to grab some food first. As Japanese food lover plus both of us once worked in the Japanese restaurant as part time job, we definitely want to try some Japanese food in Taichung. We choose the conveyor belt sushi restaurant which called Pinglu sushi. Surprisingly, no matter the sushi, ramen and dessert, all of the meals are delicious. And till night, we went to the Yizhong shopping district to taste the local food.

The next day, we started from the Second public market to have a traditional breakfast. After having a food coma, we moved to the next stop, Shen Ji Village to visit the culture of hipster, not to mention buying some souvenirs. Also, we bought some tasty puffs. By the way, there are some cool costumes which allowed the customers to cosplay and take some photos at the outside of the puff’s store. Until afternoon, we went to Umai which we had booked one month ago. And I bought my boyfriend the lunch to express my gratitude. At night, we went to Fengja night market.

In the final day, we had planned to the coast shore originally. However, we thought that maybe we should leave Taichung earlier due to the risk of car jam. Then, after tasting the final dessert herb jelly, we ready to back home. Along the way home, we still encountered the car jam. What’ more, the sky turned into black and both of us were tired enough. Eventually, it took almost five hours to arrive our sweet home. The whole trip was fairly amazing to me because it was my first time to ride a motorcycle to such far place and I enjoyed the whole experience. But, next time, I think I won’t do it again because it’s fatigue to me to sit on the motorcycle so such long time.

Maggy: Wow it's really tiring to ride such a long way! I have ridden from Chaiyi to Taichung. (because I live in Taichung now.) I was utterly exhausted when I arrived, and your distance seems to be longer comparing to mine. I think it's a good choice to visit traditional market because there are many delicious food! If you have any chance visiting Taichung in the future, I would recommend you to visit Gaomei wetland, it's really beautiful!

I am so glad that I went to Taichung last weekend, too. Much to my surprise, I also went to the same puff’s store as you. Taichung is a very prosperous city, where has many tourist spots. It is a quite interesting and fun place. However, I would like to suggest you that taking public transportation is much safer than riding motorcycle. After all, pay attention to safety is the most important thing.

I believe it would be one of your most unforgettable experiences throughout your whole life! It’s really amazing that you and your boyfriend drove to Taichung, and I think the weather was really freezing at that time… The pictures of food you show look so tasty and I really want to give it a try! By the way, did you try the famous “Feng-Ren” ice at Yizhong shopping district? It’s really special, at least for me!
